The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (2-0-0) vs. the Washington Capitals (0-3-0)
The Game Previews: My preview from earlier this morning is right here. For the opposition's point of view, please visit Japers' Rink.
The Song for Tonight: Usually, I'll pick something heavy but tonight I feel a bit different. Instead, here's something you can groove to. You may be familiar with this track if you've played the 2012 reboot of SSX or Forza Horizon. This is The Twelves' remix of "Something Good Can Work" by Two Cinema Door Club.
Gameday Info: As Tom Gulitti reported earlier today at Fire & Ice, the lineup from Thursday's practice has not changed. This means Krys Barch will make his Devils debut, Mattias Tedenby will remain in the top six, and Adam Larsson will not be in uniform. The post also notes that the goaltending matchup is Martin Brodeur against Michal Neuvirth. Neuvirth played against Montreal last night, so I'm a little surprised he's getting the start tonight. Then again, it is early in the season so fatigue may not be that big of an issue. It's not like Braden Holtby has been significantly better in his first two starts. Either way, I want the Devils to make Neuvirth work tonight. Lastly, Gulitti tweeted that Alex Ovechkin says he will line up at left wing tonight. Left or right, he's still a constant threat.
As an aside, I did hint at something in my preview about the Capitals' website. I might as well spoil the surprise given it doesn't look like it's happening. Last night, at their request, I shot a short two minute video previewing the game for their site. I thought it would be, they told me it would be at about midday, but it is not up as of 5:15 PM. If it's up, then I'll point it out. If not, then, well, I won't. Sorry for getting your hopes up in the meantime.
The Reminder of Rules: This is a place where you can comment about this game before, during, and after it's played before the recap is up. This is a place where we primarily discuss the Devils game. An odd mention of other NHL games is OK, but it shouldn't dominate discussion. All comments will be clean, respectful of each other, relevant to the game, and legal (read: no streams). Please refrain from super-big pictures and/or .GIFs to keep the gamethread moving for everyone. If you feel you must post a picture, then please put a title in the comment so other users can minimize them if they choose to do so.
Since I'll be in my usual seat in Section 1 and Row 16, I'll be providing sparse commentary here and through @InLouWeTrust during the game and the game's intermissions. All the same, Go Devils!
