A few things to note from the most recent statistics:

Joe Faust got his first point of the season in a 4-3 overtime win against Minnesota State. He had the first goal of the game. The rest of the college crowd was quiet last weekend.

Reid Boucher had a four-goal night last week - no other CHL player had a more impressive outing.

The Albany Devils have been very successful since the New Year began. It will be tough on them losing all of the NHL caliber guys with the lockout ending. The test for the team without guys like Henrique, Larsson, and Josefson begins on Friday when they face Adirondack.

Prospect Spotlight:

Stefan Matteau was invited to the Devils' training camp this week. He has impressed both players and coaches while making the most of his opportunity there. DeBoer believes he will be a good NHL player when that day comes, but he is expected to go back to the QMJHL when camp ends at the end of the week. He has been playing on a line between David Clarkson and Dainius Zubrus, who he trains with on the off-season. Coach DeBoer said that Matteau looks like a "typical New Jersey Devils forward," which is welcome news with the thin pool of forwards available in New Jersey. It will be exciting to see what he does with the rest of his opportunity at training camp and if he gets a shot during the regular season. Don't expect to see him for more than the six games - if he plays any more than that a year is taken off of his entry-level contract.

Other note-worthy news:

Reid Boucher -

Wow. That is the only word that comes to mind when thinking about the season Boucher is having. He scored four goals in a 5-1 win over Ottawa last Saturday. He now has 35 goals and 57 points in 43 games this season. Wow.

ADevs at Training Camp -

A bunch of the guys playing in Albany were called to attend training camp this week. The players competing for a roster spot include Bobby Butler, Mattias Tedenby, Harry Pesonen, and Tim Sestito. Adam Henrique, Adam Larsson, Jacob Josefson, and Stephen Gionta were also called up and are expected to make the team after their standout performances last season.

Albany vs. Devils Scrimmage at Camp -

The Devils faced the Albany Devils in a scrimmage yesterday afternoon. The New Jersey Devils won 4-1. Matteau scored the only goal for the Red Team (Albany) and Pesonen scored on Hedberg in the mock-shootout.

That's it for the prospect update this week. Which AHL guys do you expect to see in the lineup? Do you think Matteau has a chance to make the club? Thanks for reading, and feel free to sound off below.
