Tonight, it's the show that you may or may not really be all that interested in! It's the NHL Awards, coming to you live on NBC Sports Network at 7 PM EST. Unless you're in Canada, then it's coming to you on a one-hour delay on the CBC, starting at 8 PM EST. If you're really, really, interested in this, you can check out the players and celebrities arrive on the red carpet starting at 4 PM EST on the NHL Network. There will also be a post-awards show at 9 PM EST on the NHL Network too.
This article at NHL.com has a preview of the whole show; and this post at NHL.com lists the finalists for every award. There will be no set host, a bunch of different people, and not just one but two performances by terrible rock band Nickelback. There's actually a reason for New Jersey Devils fans to pay attention to this show, though. Adam Henrique has been named as a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy, awarded to the best rookie of the regular season. I think Gabriel Landeskog deserves it, but who knows, maybe the Professional Hockey Writers Association feels different.
Anyway, please use the comments to talk about tonight's award show. Talk about the lame canned jokes and/or skits in the show! Discuss who won and whether they really deserved it or not! Complain about Nickelback's performances! (Aside: please keep it to the performances, we know they're not good in general.) Dish on what the players are wearing and how awkward they look! Talk about the NHL Awards show! Just follow the rules as usual and enjoy a summer jam as you watch the 2012 NHL Awards.
