The Series: The New Jersey Devils (0) at the Philadelphia Flyers (1)
The Previews: Matt did the preview for this game; please go check it out if you haven't yet. For the opposition's point of view, Travis Hughes has this preview at Broad Street Hockey.
The Pre-Game Video: The Devils official website has the opening video shown at the Rock before each playoff game against Florida. It's a fantastic video and a good way to pump yourself up before this game.
The Song for Tonight: The song for tonight has breakdowns, screaming, an a salsa-like section the middle. This is August Burns Red and the song is "Internal Cannon" from their 2011 release Leveler.
Gameday Info: The big story is that Ilya Kovalchuk will not play tonight. Injuries during the playoffs are a big deal and it's even a bigger deal when it keeps an important player off the ice. How will the Devils deal with his absence? As reported by Tom Gulitti this afternoon, the Devils intend on slotting Peter Harrold on the fourth line, moving Steve Bernier up to a third line, Dainius Zubrus will play with Alexei Ponikarovsky and Travis Zajac, and David Clarkson will be up top with Patrik Elias and Zach Parise. Yes, the Kovalchuk replacement will be Clarkson. Since Harrold is now up at forward, Adam Larsson will play his first NHL playoff game on defense. According to this post by Gulitti, the Devils say they will play their butts off - they'll pretty much have to given how Game 1 went. We'll see if it happens.
The Reminder: I know everyone's going to be a bit on edge for this one - myself included. Feelings and emotions will be running high. Still, remember that I and the other users commenting aren't the ones playing this game. There's no need to get salty among ourselves or against any trolls from other places (pro-tip: don't respond to them). To quote Bill S. Preston, Esq., be excellent to each other.
Please use the comments in this post to discuss tonight's game before, during, and after it happens until the recap is up. Please remember the rules at all times. Namely: keep your comments clean, keep them on topic (SPECIAL PLAYOFF RULE: Anything 2012 NHL playoff related is OK.), and keep them legal (For example: nothing is allowed about illegal streams - no links, no discussion, no requests). I'll provide commentary here as well as a tweet here and there at @InLouWeTrust. Go Devils!
