The Game: The New Jersey Devils at the Florida Panthers
The Previews: My game preview is here and the big series preview is here. For the opposition's point of view, Kevin Kraczkowski has this preview at Litter Box Cats.
The Viewing Parties: The Devils have two viewing parties according to their official website. There's one at Texas Arizona in Hoboken and the other is at Bar-A in Belmar.
The Song for Tonight: Paul Masvidal and Sean Reinert performed on the excellent Death release Human, but they're better known for their work together in Miami-based progressive metal band Cynic. This is the third track on their own legendary 1993 release Focus: "The Eagle Nature." It's entirely appropriate just for this lyric: "A crystal goblet so fragile and dear/needs fill one step at a time." It works for silver goblets, too.
Gameday Info: Tom Gulitti confirmed this morning at Fire & Ice that Adam Larsson will not play tonight. Ditto Eric Boulton and Cam Janssen. That means that Peter Harrold and Stephen Gionta will be in the lineup for New Jersey. Gulitti later reported about a new slogan (on new clothes) for the team: "SWARM IT UP." I'm not even sure that makes sense, but whatever.
Harvey Fialkov has video of Peter DeBoer's press conference this morning at the Sun-Sentinel. As far as the Panthers lineup, it's still unclear as to who will start this game for Florida. Fialkov tweeted that Scott Clemmensen talked like he's the backup, making Jose Theodore the starter, but who knows. The other scratches have a bit of mystery as well. Fialkov stated Mike Santorelli, Jarred Smithson, and Marco Sturm as out; while George Richards said Krys Barch, Keaton Ellerby, Smithson, and Santorelli will be scratched. We'll find out all of this shortly and I'll update it accordingly.
Update: Panthers will start Theodore as per Fialkov.
Please use the comments in this post to discuss tonight's game before, during, and after it happens until the recap is up. Please remember the rules at all times. Namely: keep your comments clean, keep them on topic (SPECIAL PLAYOFF RULE: Anything 2012 NHL playoff related is OK.), and keep them legal (READ: nothing about illegal streams - no links, no discussion, no requests). I'll provide commentary here as well as a tweet here and there at @InLouWeTrust. Go Devils!
