New Jersey Devils at New York Rangers - Gamethread #62

The Time: 7:30 PM EDT

The Broadcast: TV - NBCSN; Radio - 660 AM WFAN

The Game: The New Jersey Devils (35-22-4) vs. the New York Rangers (39-15-6)

The Previews: Kevin did the preview this morning for this game; please check it out if you haven't yet. As for the opposition's point of view, Blueshirt Banter should have something up closer to gametime given their impressive trade deadline coverage.

The Trade Deadline: The Devils didn't do anything today. Keep calm and carry on.

A Song for Tonight: In the 1980s, a new form of dance music, garage, was developing out of the Zanzibar club in NJ and the Paradise Garage in NYC (hence the name). It's like house music (some used to call it New York House, some just call it funk), except it has some more emphasis on soul, melody, and other traits found in disco. One of the standout tracks of the genre came out in 1981 from The New Jersey Connection: "Love Don't Come Easy." The music alone will get you in a better mood. In fact, here's an instrumental version of the song. Have fun with this jam.

Gameday Info: Martin Brodeur will start tonight, making it the first time he will start both games in a back-to-back set this season. Tom Gulitti confirmed that news in this post at Fire & Ice. In other Devils news, Gulitti also reported that Eric Boulton would play tonight if he cleared waivers. He did, so he'll play in place of Cam Janssen. That's what I call a lateral move. Anyway, the Rangers didn't make any moves of note (John Scott doesn't count). Andrew Gross reported that John Tortorella said he'll use the same lineup he used against Buffalo tonight. That means Henrik Lundqvist will start, Stu Bickel will be on defense, and Marian Gaborik & Brad Richards will be on separate lines. Today's inaction will allow him to do just that.

As usual, you can use the comments in this post to discuss tonight's game before, during, and after it happens until the recap is up. Please remember the rules at all times. Namely: keep your comments clean, keep them on topic (read: don't snipe at each other - there's a game to discuss), and keep them legal (read: nothing about illegal streams - no links, no discussion, no requests). I'll provide the occasional comment here as well as a tweet here and there at @InLouWeTrust. Go Devils!
