New Jersey Devils vs. Vancouver Canucks - Gamethread #60

The Time: 7:00 PM EDT

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Radio - 660 AM WFAN

The Game: The New Jersey Devils (35-20-4) vs. the Vancouver Canucks (39-16-6)

The Honored: Legendary broadcaster Dr. Mike Emrick, better known to you and me as just "Doc," will be honored before tonight's game. The ceremony will begin at 7 and the game will start at about 7:25. Please arrive on time at 7 to see the entire ceremony if you're going to the game.

The Previews: My preview from much, much earlier this morning is right here. For the opposition's point of view, Sean Zandberg has this preview of tonight's game over at Nucks Misconduct.

A Song for Tonight: Did you like the singer from Attacker, Bob Mitchell? Well, did you also know he fronted New Jersey-based power metal act Sleepy Hollow in the late 1980s and early 1990s? You should, as he and the band were pretty good at what they did. They recently reformed after a long hiatus and released a new album this year. However, I want to highlight a track from their 1989 demo, A Legend Retold, which sounds simply great. This is "Winners Take All."

Gameday Info: As one would guess from Thursday's practice, some Devils will return to the lineup after being sidelined due to injuries. Tom Gulitti reported this morning at Fire & Ice that both Kurtis Foster and Ryan Carter will return to the lineup. Adam Larsson, who practiced yesterday, will sit out another game and the rookie understands that. In order to accommodate the return of Foster and Carter, Nick Palmieri, Eric Boulton, and Cam Janssen will be scratched. Yes, Peter DeBoer is sitting both goons. Feel free to dance to that news. Peter Harrold will act as a seventh defenseman while Carter will join Jacob Josefson on a shortened fourth line. According to Gordon McIntyre of the Province, the Canucks are expected to start Cory Schneider in net while Byron Bitz and Keith Ballard will not play - they didn't even travel to Newark.

As usual, you can use the comments in this post to discuss tonight's game before, during, and after it happens until the recap is up. Please remember the rules at all times. Namely: keep your comments clean, keep them on topic (read: don't snipe at each other - there's a game to discuss), and keep them legal (read: nothing about illegal streams - no links, no discussion, no requests). I'll provide the occasional comment from my seat in Section 1, Row 16, Seat 5 as well as a tweet here and there at @InLouWeTrust. Go Devils!
