New Jersey Devils at Montreal Canadiens - Gamethread #58

The Time: 6:00 PM EDT

The Broadcast: TV - NBC Sports Network, CBC, RDS; Radio - 660 AM WFAN

The Game: The New Jersey Devils (33-20-4) at the Montreal Canadiens (24-25-10)

The Previews: My preview from much, much earlier this morning is right here. For the opposition's perspective, please check out Habs Eyes on the Prize later.

A Song for Tonight: One of the bands Dave Chavarri (Ill Niño) drummed for in his youth was Jersey City based Gothic Slam. Don't let the name fool you. They made standard, now old school thrash metal, they were pretty solid but nothing groundbreaking, and they released two albums. They had a minor hit on the second track from their second album Just A Face in the Crowd: "Who Died and Made You God?" It's one of the best songs on the album and it's defiant attitude seems relevant given how some critics have felt about the Devils organization since, oh, 1994. Maybe the Montreal organization should've taken this approach when they hired Cunneyworth, but whatever.

Gameday Info: There will be a change to the Devils lineup for tonight's game. Tom Gulitti reported that Kurtis Foster will not play tonight because of a stiff back. Peter Harrold was called up last night and he'll play in Foster's place. Yes, the Devils' third pairing on defense will be Harrold and Matt Taormina. I hope they don't get demolished. According to Mike Boone of Hockey Inside/Out (a.k.a. the Montreal Gazette), Louis Leblanc is sick and he'll be replaced by Aaron Palushaj tonight.

As usual, you can use the comments in this post to discuss tonight's game before, during, and after it happens until the recap is up. Please remember the rules at all times. Namely: keep your comments clean, keep them on topic (read: don't snipe at each other - there's a game to discuss), and keep them legal (read: nothing about illegal streams - no links, no discussion, no requests). Go Devils!
