New Jersey Devils at Buffalo Sabres - Gamethread #56

The Time: 7:00 PM EDT

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Radio - 660 AM WFAN

The Game: The New Jersey Devils (31-20-4) at the Buffalo Sabres (24-25-6)

The Previews: My preview from way, way earlier this morning is right here. Please go check it out if you haven't. Die by the Blade will have a game-related post up closer to gametime.

A Song for Tonight: Hailing from Bridgewater, Shades Apart became part of the sea change in Revelation Records lineup in the mid-1990s, when the label focused more on alternative and post-hardcore music rather than, well, hardcore. They did pretty well, they got some major label notice later in the decade, and eventually signed to Universal. On their first release for Universal, Eyewitness, they even had an actual hit single. Appropriate for this day, that single is "Valentine."

Gameday Info: Stephane Veilleux isn't the only call up from Albany. Tom Gulitti reported this morning that Nick Palmieri arrived in Buffalo to skate with the team. However, Gulitti later reported that Palmieri will not play; Veilleux, Jacob Josefson, and Cam Janssen will act as the team's fourth line. So close, Peter DeBoer, yet so far. John Vogl of the Buffalo News reported that Lindy Ruff will be behind the bench tonight for the first time since his rib injury. That's good to see. Also: Vogl reported that Christian Ehrhoff is sick and Marc-Andre Gragnani will return to the lineup in his place. That's good for the Devils as Ehrhoff is an offensive threat and seemingly constant presence on the blueline. Lastly, Gulitti did confirm in this post that the starters tonight will be Martin Brodeur and Ryan Miller.

As usual, you can use the comments in this post to discuss today's game before, during, and after it happens until the recap is up. Please remember the rules at all times. Namely: keep your comments clean, keep them on topic, and keep them legal (read: nothing about illegal streams - no links, no discussion, no requests). Go Devils!
