This week's edition of the Junior roundup features not a lot from the prospects, but quite a bit of information about Stefan Matteau courtesy of an Armada blogger.

Individual Notes
Stefan Matteau- Junior sat out a game this week because he was suspended for being the aggressor in a fight (the penalty which I mentioned in last week's notes). Of course, he came back and scored a goal on Sunday as well as getting into a fight in the same game. Also of note- I made a bit of a mistake last week with Matteau's stat. I tagged him with 4 total goals last time I checked, but he's currently at 4 goals right now.

Individual Notes
Reid Boucher- The Sting are currently on a 4 game winning streak. They've been able to win without Boucher's contributions though.
Ben Thomson- Interesting note on Thomson- he's only collected 4 PIMs in the 7 games he's played so far this season. Considering that he's been billed as a goon, I'm somewhat surprised about this.

Graham Black- Black continues to be a consistent player for the Broncos, currently riding a 4 game point streak. The Broncos are doing much better this year, and Black's definitely a reason why they are
Reece Scarlett- When Scarlett puts points up, he's putting them up in bunches. He had another mutli-point week, and now he has 6 points in 7 games.

Alexander Kerfoot- another week, another strong performance. In addition to his usual scoring ways, Kerfoot managed to take 3 minor penalties in a 4-0 victory against Trail. What a goon.

Devils Junior Prospect of the Week- Graham Black
Black's consistent performance grabs him the DJPotW honors this week. And the fact that no one else really did much to contest him for that honor.
Thoughts on Matteau from an Armada Blogger
While I don't get to watch the Q all the time, I'm not able to see Matteau's performance so far this season. However, I was able to get the next best thing- someone who follows the Armada. Anthony Stella, who covers the Armada for The Q Spot, was able to share some of his thoughts on Junior's performance so far this season.
I honestly have to say that my impression changes as he plays more games. At first he really seemed like a secondary player, as I had the expectations that a first round pick would dominate the game and league but that wasn't the case. He still put up points and scored some goals, but wasn't as much of a force as I had expected. That being said, he's really turning into an effective power forward as the games go on. He's starting to play a more in your face type hockey and it's working.
His emotions have come out in certain games, going after various players and getting involved in scrums and fights. I have witnessed many players stick an elbow out and try to take his head off, but I think that comes with the territory of being a high profile player. The type of style he plays will cause his emotions to take over on many occasions. One instance for example was vs Quebec, he and a Quebec Dman Ryan Culkin were at each other all game, Matteau dropped his gloves but Culkin didn't and Matteau still engaged in the fight and continued to punch until the ref's broke it up. He was kicked out of the game and Quebec got a 5 minute power play.
In terms of Matteau and adding to the Armada's goal scoring I'd say he's a big part. He might not get many points but he's a key component to the power play as he stays in front of the net and is a big body on the boards. It still is very early in the season, but in his first season in the league he has four goals, four assists in nine games. That's not too bad.
Something I found interesting that happened last night was Brian Burke(GM of Toronto Maple Leafs) was at the game and Matteau played one of his best games I've seen. He scored, fought, threw big hits and was a complete force. I kept my eye on Burke, and after Matteau's hit and fight Burke was on his phone for the rest of the game. Every time Matteau was on the ice after Burke would sit up and watch him. He really played the type of hockey Burke likes. Just an observation.
A big thank you to Anthony for his thoughts on Matteau. If you wish to keep tabs on Junior and his play with Blainville, you can follow Anthony on twitter here.
