The Time: 7:30 PM EDT
The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Radio - 660 AM WFAN
The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (21-15-1) at the Ottawa Senators (19-15-5)
The Previews: My preview from way earlier this morning is right here. For the opposition's point of view, Silver Seven should have something up closer to gametime.
The Talking Red Live Announcement: On January 10, from 7:30 - 9 PM EDT (that's before the Calgary game), David Sarch, Ryan Lucas, and myself are going to attempt to do a live Talking Red episode. Save the date and time, come with your questions, and we may even have answers to them as they come in. Expect a more detailed post on this in the coming days.
A Song for Tonight: Shattered Realm blew up in the NJ scene in the early part of the last decade with a sound that's some may associate with metalcore (proto-deathcore?) rather than hardcore. That's just splitting hairs in my opinion; it's still heavy like Dustin Byfuglien. From their third album Broken Ties...Spoken Lies, the track is "This World Is Mine!"
Gameday Info: Tom Gulitti reported this morning that Anton Volchenkov will not play tonight, he's taking the night off with his lower body strain. Matt Taormina will take his place on the blueline. Also from Gulitti's post: the Devils could be without a massive source of energy with Eric Boulton replacing Tim Sestito on the fourth line tonight. As an ancillary factor from that move on the fourth line, look out for Mattias Tedenby. Tonight should be a good test to see if he can be trusted on the third line if the game is close. Lastly, Gulitti confirmed that the starting goaltenders will be Martin Brodeur and Craig Anderson. According to Allen Panzeri of the Ottawa Citizen, Sergei Gonchar is feeling better from taking a puck to the head in Saturday's warm-up skate and so Matt Carkner will be scratched in his place. Check out Panzeri's post to see Ottawa's projected lines.
As usual, you can use the comments in this post to discuss tonight''s game before, during, and after it happens until the recap is up. Please remember the rules at all times. Namely: keep your comments clean, keep them on topic (the two teams in this game), and keep them legal (read: nothing about illegal streams - no links, no discussion, no requests). Go Devils!
