The Time: 7:00 PM EST
The Broadcast: TV - VERSUS; Online Stream: Devils' official website w/ Matt Loughlin & Sherry Ross
The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (1-2-0) at the Philadelphia Flyers (3-1-1)
The Previews: My preview from way earlier this morning is right here. For the other side, please check out Broad Street Hockey.
Gameday Info: Rosters were finally released for both teams this morning. Tom Gulitti reported New Jersey's roster at Fire & Ice. Martin Brodeur is starting in net, Matt Taormina has an injury of sorts so he won't play, and both Dainius Zubrus and Anton Volchenkov were skating though they will not play tonight. All three try-outs - Petr Sykora, Anton Stralman, and Steve Bernier - are in the lineup, so pay attention to how they do tonight. As for the defense, Adam Larsson gets another shot to show off among a veteran-laden group (well, veteran-laden plus Mark Fayne). Outside of the bottom six, it looks to be a strong Devils lineup.
As for Philadelphia, their official website has tonight's roster for the home team. Ilya Bryzgalov will be in net, Chris Pronger will patrol the blueline (watch your heads for elbows, Devils), and Wayne Simmonds may or may not be watching his mouth during his shifts. The Flyers' roster looks as strong as well, as it seems their blueline could be the same group that starts their season and top forwards like Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek, and Danny Briere are accounted for. Scott Hartnell will also make his preseason debut tonight, so like the Devils, the Flyers are going into this game looking to prepare for the start of the NHL season as opposed to sorting out players.
Please use the comments to discuss the game before, during, and a little after the game itself. While the result ultimately means nothing, but please cheer on the team all the same. Keep the rules in mind when you do comment: keep it clean, keep it relevant, and keep it legal (read: no illegal streams - that shouldn't be an issue tonight since the Devils own site has one going). Above all: Go Devils!
