New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers - Gamethread #33

The Time: 7:00 PM EDT

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+; Radio - 660 AM WFAN

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (18-13-1) vs. Our Hated Rivals (a.k.a. New York Rangers) (18-8-4)

The Previews: My preview from way earlier this morning is right here. For the hated opposition's side, please visit Blueshirt Banter.

The Reminder: Yes, this is a hated rivalry; but nonsense will be condensed. Play nice here or at Blueshirt Banter or you won't get to play at all.

The Android App: SBNation has released a free Android app. Go check it out here for more information.

A Song for the Night: It's the first Devils-Rangers game this season. This is the first time for the team, as Ron Rinehart of Dark Angel once bellowed, "Leave Scars." Warning: this song is not safe for those allergic to riffs.

Gameday Info: Bad news for the Devils tonight: they will be without Henrik Tallinder and Patrik Elias, as Peter DeBoer confirmed to Tom Gulitti this morning. Elias is sick and Tallinder is still recovering from back spasms. This means Travis Zajac will center Petr Sykora and Dainius Zubrus; while ENERGY Tim Sestito will step in on the fourth line. As for defense, Matt Taormina will play another game. The news about Tallinder is a little disappointing, but the Devils have managed without him in the past few games. Elias being out is a bigger deal since he's the team's top scorer and takes on tough competition. Zajac moving up in the lineup makes sense on paper; but it's still his third regular game this season. The hope is that he's going to be more like himself. We'll see how he does with increased responsibilities so soon from returning to play.

On the Rangers side of things, Andrew Gross reported this afternoon that defenseman Jeff Woywitka is a game-time decision. If he's good to go, he'll play; if not, Tim Erixon will replace him. Also, Mike Rupp and Artem Anisimov will certainly play this evening. Martin Brodeur and Henrik Lundqvist are the starting goaltenders.

As usual, you can use the comments in this post to discuss today's game before, during, and after it happens until the recap is up later tonight. Please remember the rules at all times, namely: keep your comments clean, keep them on topic (namely about the two teams in this game), and keep them legal (read: nothing about illegal streams - no links, no discussion, no requests). Go Devils!
