New Jersey Devils vs. Philadelphia Flyers - Preseason Gamethread #6

The Time: 7:00 PM EST

The Broadcast: Internet Only - MSG.com or the Devils' official website.

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (2-3-0) vs. the Philadelphia Flyers (4-1-1)

The Previews: Kevin's preview from this morning is right here. For the other side of tonight's game, please visit Broad Street Hockey.

Gameday Info: Kevin's preview quoted the Devils' lineup tonight from Tom Gulitti. It's a very strong one, and I expect most of it to return on opening night next week. There are a few exceptions. Alexander Urbom is playing in place of Bryce Salvador; and both Adam Henrique and Brad Mills are in the mix. What will be brand new is Dainius Zubrus. He will make his preseason debut tonight. According to Rich Chere at NJ.com, he will be at center tonight. With this group, I expect a solid performance - almost the exact opposite of what fans saw last night. Even if it wasn't a strong lineup, I'd still want to see a sharper performance if only because it's the final preseason game.

The Flyers' lineup per their official website isn't so strong. It's not like what the Devils put out on Friday, there are several NHL players active such as Jakub Voracek, Andreas Nodl, Wayne Simmonds, Scott Hartnell, Maxime Talbot, Matt Carle, Braydon Coburn, and Kimmo Timonen. It's just that some of their big names are getting the night off with the exception of Ilya Bryzgalov, who will start against Martin Brodeur tonight. Ergo, I wouldn't take this game as a preview of next week's season opener. Chris Pronger is one of them, as he told the press (via Chere):

"Let's put it on my headstone that I won't go to Newark for a preseason game," Pronger told Philly reporters.

Take note, engravers, that's what he wants on his tombstone. Anyway, see you in Newark in a week, Chris!

Please use the comments to discuss the game before, during, and a little after the game itself. I'll try to keep up via mobile from my seat in Section 1. As usual, keep the rules in mind when you do comment. Basically: keep it clean, keep it relevant, and keep it legal (read: no illegal streams - that shouldn't be an issue tonight since all there are tonight are legal streams). Above all, Go Devils!
