This should come as no surprise to those of you who've been reading all the audition posts (great work, by the way, all of you deserve to get hired) and the fact that the last time I did anything was Game 3 of Round 1 in April, but I have decided to leave the hallowed halls of In Lou We Trust.
Now, you should all know this was not an easy decision, but it is a necessary one. I was recently hired by SB Nation New York as their media columnist. Right now, my weekly column "Behind the Mic" appears every Sunday, I occasionally substitute for esteemed editor Ed Valentine on his great "Morning Coffee" segment, and I've thrown in some things about baseball and hockey here and there and ... what's this? A post on the Devils coaching search? Heh, how'd that get in there?
Anyway, between that and the always interesting (if never particularly well-written) Puck the Media, it'd simply be too much for me to perform what needed to be done at In Lou We Trust as well as this site and it's fans deserve. Fischer works harder than anyone I know at this, and he doesn't deserve someone treating this as a third gig. One of you folks certainly has earned the opportunity, and I know one of you will seize it and do a fantastic job.
That said, I won't be far away, and I'll still hang out in game threads and be at Devils games, and try to do Devils work for SBN NY, fighting the good fight for hockey and for Jersey's team. Thank you John, for the opportunity to write about the team I love more than anything on earth, and for allowing me to write the one thing I am sincerely proud of at this site, the "10 Best Moments of the Decade" piece. Thanks to Tibbs, thanks to all the good folks at SB Nation. Finally, thanks to you readers, for without you, it simply isn't worth it. Goodnight, all.
