New Jersey Devils at Washington Capitals - Gamethread #33

The Time: 7:30 PM EST

The Broadcast: TV - VERSUS; Radio - 660 AM WFAN

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (9-21-2) at the Washington Capitals (19-12-4)

The Previews: My preview from way early this morning can be found here, including a whole lot of disgust at John MacLean's forward lines in Monday's practice. For the Capitals side, please check out Japers' Rink.

Gameday Info: Earlier today, Tom Gulitti reported that Anssi Salmela will be a healthy scratch. Matthew Corrente will likely be paired with Anton Volchenkov. Also from this morning, Greg Schimmel of the Washington Post's Capital Insider blog reported quite a bit for the home team: Matt Hendricks is doubtful, Alexander Semin is questionable, Eric Fehr is still out, and it appears that Michal Neuvirth will be starting for the Caps.

Incidentally: Schimmel also reported this quote from Mike Knuble:

"For all the things that have been terrible about us, it's a little bit worse for them," Caps winger Mike Knuble said. "We know how they're feeling but we're trying to climb out of a hole ourselves, so we're not worried about them. We need to get some wins going."

Well, I can't say it's bulletin board material in that it's entirely true.

Some Whimsy: A reader named David would like me to introduce to you Danger, the unofficial Devils mascot for this season. I know he's a loyal reader because Danger is a unicorn.

A Song for Tonight: It's a game against D.C., and as such, Dag Nasty needs to be represented again. Here's the title track from the seminal Can I Say album.

Please use this Gamethread to discuss what's going on in this game. You can mention other NHL scores, but please keep the conversation mostly on the Devils-Capitals game tonight. As always, please keep your comments clean, relevant, and legal. If you want to be negative; fine, but do be rational as nobody needs any nonsense from anyone. Enough people are in Stage 2 & 4 as-is. Most importantly: Let's go, Devils.
