New Jersey Devils at Ottawa Senators - Gamethread #28

The Time: 7:30 PM EST

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+(HD); Radio - 660 AM WFAN; Yahoo! is streaming the game (thanks Kevin).

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (8-17-2) at the Ottawa Senators (12-16-2)

The Previews: My preview from way early in the morning can be found here, now with a corrected record for Ottawa. For the other side, Peter Raaymakers put together some links this morning surrounding tonight's game.

The Coat Drive is Tomorrow: Remember to bring a new or gently-used coat to the Rock tomorrow if you're going to the Detroit-Devils game.

The Big Chill is Also Tomorrow: Devils prospects Jon Merrill, Brandon Burlon, and David Wohlberg will suit up in some ugly yellow jerseys for Michigan as they take on Michigan State in the Big House. Yes, 100,000+ for Michigan State-Michigan hockey. It's going to be sweet. The game's at 3 PM EST, it'll be on the Big Ten Network, and it's something to check out before the Devils-Detroit game. Brian of the amazing MGoBlog has this preview for the Wolverines side, and Spartan Dan of the Only Colors has this preview from a Michigan St. perspective.

Gameday Info: Tom Gulitti confirmed this morning Pascal Leclaire will start in net for Ottawa, facing off with Martin Brodeur. Gulitti also reported that Olivier Magnan-Grenier and Stephen Gionta cleared waivers. Both are expected to go down to Albany. For the Ottawa side, Scott MacArthur tweeted that Alexei Kovalev feels he's been a scapegoat for the Senators' struggles (hat-tip: Silver Seven). Not that Ottawa has a lot of offense, but when the third-leading scorer feels pigeon-holed, it can't be good for team morale. And possibly his on-ice performance.

A Song for Tonight: One of the early speed/thrash metal bands around was Ottawa-based Exciter. Here's the title track to their second album, "Violence & Force."

Please use this Gamethread to discuss what's going on in this game. You can mention other NHL scores, but please keep the conversation mostly on the Devils and Senators game tonight. As always, please keep your comments clean, relevant, and legal. If you want to be negative; fine, but do be rational as nobody needs any nonsense from anyone. Enough people are in Stage 2 & 4 as-is. Most importantly: Let's go, Devils.
