New Jersey Devils vs. Edmonton Oilers - Gamethread #17

The Time: 7:00 PM EST

The Broadcast: TV - MSG+(HD); Radio - 660 AM WFAN

The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (4-10-2) vs. the Edmonton Oilers (4-8-2)

The Food Drive: It's tonight! Bring non-perishable foodstuffs to the game and put it in the bins to feed people who need it. Resist the temptation to throw it on the ice tonight given how both teams are this season. More details here.

The Previews: My preview from way early this morning is at the prior link. The Copper & Blue will have a gameday post up by the time you read this, so go there for that.

Gameday Info: According to Tom Gulitti, Martin Brodeur will start, Jamie Langenbrunner will not play tonight, and Brian Rolston will play in his first game since the second game of the season. In a move that should surprise no one, Gulitti also reported that Zach Parise was just placed on long term injured reserve retroactive to October 30 to make the return of Rolston cap-compliant. Lastly and not leastly, congratulations to Olivier Magnan-Grenier and his wife Genevieve as she delivered their first child, Benjamin, on Thursday night. Don't worry, Olivier Magnan-Grenier will play tonight.

A Song for Tonight: Given the opponent, it's the only time this season where I can reference the punk band SNFU. Here's "Where's My Legs?" from their seminal album "If You Swear, You'll Catch No Fish." I think it's appropriate since neither team has had a run of luck or success yet this season.

Please use this Gamethread to discuss what's going on in tonight's game. It's OK to mention other NHL scores, but keep the conversation mostly on the Devils-Oilers game tonight. As always, please keep your comments clean, relevant, and legal. Most importantly: Let's Go Devils!
