The Matchup: The New Jersey Devils (4-10-1) vs. the Buffalo Sabres (4-9-2)
The Previews: Here's my preview from way early this morning. For the Buffalo side, Zachary Zielonka of Die by the Blade has this preview with an appropriate headline: "The battle of the least." Yep. Zielonka's preview does note that tonight will be the 1,000th game coached by Lindy Ruff. Congratulations to Ruff for the milestone.
The Vehicle in the Plaza: The New Jersey Devils emailed me to let me know that there is now a Devils Army Rig. What they've done is retro-fit a World War II service vehicle to serve as the mascot's mode of transportation before games. It will outside the Rock at Championship Plaza and the vehicle will be used for activities, mascot appearances, and other events. Given that the plaza is, well, mostly just a plaza, it'll at least be something to check out before games. Thanks to the Devils organization for the heads-up.
Gameday Info: Mike McKenna has been called up to be the Devils' backup tonight; and Matt Corrente isn't playing along with Brian Rolston. Buffalo will have Patrick Lalime available, he does not have appendicitis, but he will be the backup to Enroth. Both reports come from, who else, Tom Gulitti.
A Song for Tonight's Game? Sure: "Marooned" by Running Wild. Pirate theme aside (that's kind of Running Wild's thing), one of these teams is going to be feel like they're left back on an island after tonight.
