New Jersey Devils at Philadelphia Flyers - 9/24/2009 GameThread

New, comments

Steve Lepore is busy tonight, so you will be dealing with me for this one. I will update this page with any updated news prior to the game, as well as commenting on the game itself well as best as possible?

Rich Chere posted the Devils' expected lineup earlier today, and there are a lot of players playing back-to-back. In fact, only 8 players on this roster wasn't at the Islanders game last night.

Zach Parise-Travis Zajac-Jamie Langenbrunner
Jay Pandolfo-Dainius Zubrus-Vladimir Zharkov
Nicklas Bergfors-Rod Pelley-David Clarkson
Andrew Peters-Tim Sestito-Matt Halischuk

Mark Fraser-Mike Mottau
Bryce Salvador-Cory Murphy
Andy Greene-Johnny Oduya

Martin Brodeur
Jeff Frazee

Why? The Devils cut 10 more from the preseason roster as reported by both Chere and Gulitti. Surprisingly so(to me at least), I thought Jacques Lemaire would make his moves after tonight's game. Alas, he saw no need to wait. I'm surprised that Patrice Cormier was sent back to juniors and Alexander Vasyunov, Michael Swift, and Nick Palmieri were all assigned to Lowell - all without getting another preseason game. So it goes. I'll have more thoughts on this tomorrow.

I fully invite you to comment on the game. Talk about that crazy hit you saw. Ask whether a player is looking good or not. Wonder whether a prospect will make the team or go straight back to Lowell with their performance.

Honestly, I'm not sure how you're seeing the game - and again, no mentioning of any illegal ways of seeing this game, it's not allowed, period end stop. I know Broad Street Hockey and their supporters will be more than happy to oblige us should we get along in commenting about the game. Surely, some of them will relay what's going on.

As always, keep it clean, keep it fairly on topic, and Go Devils! (Even if we may not be able to actually see them.)
