I guess the Rangers are going to push for Heatley or Gaborik or some other big-name, big-dollar UFA now. The NY Rangers have essentially traded away Scott Gomez for Montreal's Chris Higgins and some prospects (Ryan MacDonagh?). Full details at the link. In my quick opinion, the Rangers are clearly making space for a future move - and naturally they trade the one $7 million dollar player who wasn't totally awful. On the Montreal aside, I guess Saku Koivu just became available and any thought to Vincent Lecavalier becoming a Hab just died for at least another season. Amazingly no picks are involved and this could turn out bad for either side. Check out Blueshirt Banter and Habs Eyes on the Prize for later analysis.
